The Pediatric Toolkit is a one hour and 30 minutes session of a self-directed, interactive primer. There are ten sections of content that covers an introduction, five clinical case presentations, self check questions and answers after each section, a post-test covering all section learning objectives, and an overall course evaluation.
Continuing education credits will be provided for the enduring materials and promoted on the ATSDR websites and TCE Online system.
The course provides the pediatric healthcare provider with the principles and practices of environmental medicine for use when investigating the potential environmental etiology of illness and/or exposure as part of the clinical evaluation of children exposed to hazardous substances. In addition, it bridges the professional practice gaps that will allow physicians and other healthcare personnel to increase their knowledge/competency and make applicable practice changes to better diagnose, treat, counsel, and manage patients based on taking an appropriate exposure history.
TARGET AUDIENCE: The target populations for the Toolkit are pediatric health care providers, primary health care providers and other health professionals that are interested in environmental health topics.
